A postdoctoral research associate is sought for a position using laser
ionization mass spectrometry, including both nanosecond and femtosecond
laser systems, to measure explosives at very low concentration in the
laboratory. This is preliminary work, with the ultimate goal of land mine
detection (though instrument development is not part of this project). The
position is at Stanford University, under the administration of Jay
Jeffries, but the work will be performed at SRI International under the
general supervision of David Crosley ([log in to unmask]) and Harald Oser
([log in to unmask]). The explosives work is part of a program at SRI
developing laser photoionization to detect a large variety of compounds at
trace quantities. Experience in spectroscopy using pulsed tunable lasers
is a requirement for this position. Familiarity with a time-of-flight mass
spectrometer is useful but not required. Please respond to Crosley
including your resume, and the names, phone numbers, and relationship to you
of 3 references.
