Greetings to our virtual colleagues
Some of you may know that for the last 2 years and three months we have been seconded, courtesy of the Department of Health (England), as a job share to the Commission For Racial Equality to lead the development and implementation of the Commission's work with the health and social care sector. Our secondment will end on the 31st May and we shall be resuming our former lives, or at least different ones from the 1st June.
The CRE has recently appointed a national health and social care policy lead to take over from us. Her name is Georgina English ([log in to unmask]) and she will shortly join the list in her own right. You are welcome to direct queries, news etc to her. The "healthstrategy" email will continue to operate for a while after 31st May and Georgina will pick up correspondence from there if necessary but we shall probably unsubscribe from that address.
It has been a pleasure working with a number of you and making use of your valuable and interesting contributions and we are sure a number of these contacts will continue. The work we have done is being externally evaluated and we shall ensure this is available to you and hopefully posted on the CRE's website.
Some things to look out for;
2nd July: Launch of the NHS Strategic Health Authority Race Equality Guide 2004. This will be a joint publication between the NHS and the CRE and is primarily intended to help English SHAs performance manage for race equality but is also a useful self assessment tool for any NHS organisation.
The Government has just published its White Paper on a single equality body. More details on the CRE website; http://www.cre.gov.uk/about/cehr.html
Members may also be interested in the consultation on the new Employment Code now undergoing its 1st revision since 1985

Best wishes to all
