Firstly my thanks to all who replied to my request for info. re the above:
particularly Ken who supplied such thorough and definitive data.
I can confirm the full name of the Co. as The Cambrian Copper Mining Co.Ltd.,
and the share cert. I have is dated 1900, large format (slightly larger than
A3). The cert. is both in English and French, and is yet another example of
French involvement in Welsh/British mining during this period. One of the
signatories on the cert. looked to be Mond, and this was initially backed up by the
clear Christian name of Alfred. However, the 'd' is impossible to pick out,
and, thanks to Ken, it is clearly obvious why!
There remains one question that puzzles me. How is it that Bick missed this
mine in the book on copper mines in N.Wales - and also others who have written
on this area and N.Wales. Is the mine known under another name? This seems
doubtful, otherwise the Co. name would also be in books covering N.Wales?
I have visited many mines in N.Wales, and to my knowledge I have not been to
this one! Has anyone been there? My next job is to dig out my maps!
Again, many thanks to all who replied to my question.
Regards, Bernard.
