Another useful source, although it deals with a very wide variety of
industries, is:
Thomas Oliver (ed), 'Dangerous Trades: The historical, social, and legal
aspects of industrial occupations as affecting health, by a number of experts',
(John Murray, 1902)
This is a huge tome of over 800 pages, and deals with occupations in
dust-producing activities such as mining and quarrying, the lead mining and
processing industries, flour milling etc. It deals with a wider range of occupational
diseases than one might have thought existed, such as 'stamp-lickers' tongue'
and 'pianoforte players cramp'. Fascinating reading if you can get hold of a
copy.
