Following from my previous message, I had a look at the site Sunday
25/04/04. Amongst other things, retrieved an intact 'Withnell Brick and
Terracotta Co 1912' brick from the 'landscaped' bing. Others noted in/around
the site. Why would a colliery have used ornamental bricks? Other bricks
noted were ETNA and Shotts.
Noted that the Withnell brickworks claypit is now a landfill site, near
Bolton.
