Roger,
I'm a little concerned to see that none of the partners in this project
represent the interests of the Historic Environment and on my breif look at
the web page I note it does not mention the conservation of mining remains
as an important cultural and educational resource. English Nature will no
doubt be looking out for the interests of newts and dragonflies as usual but
has English Heritage or a similar body been approached on this matter?
Hopefully regeneration of mining sites isn't going to mean their destruction
in favour of landscaped nature reserves.
Just a thought
Phil Newman

The next meeting of the steering group is on Tuesday 23 January at 9:30 at
the Visitor Centre at the
Eden Project. Any list members who can go are welcome, but please contact
Augusta (Gus) Grand as
below. Check out the web site as in Peter's email below.
As Peter says any comments before the meeting would be really useful. I
understand that Phil Hosken
of the Trevithick Society is attending and I will undertake to feed any
comments up to next Monday
evening on to him. Please reply to the list, not direct to me.
Roger Gosling
