Oddly, salt mines do not appear to suffer with high humidity. Far from being chemically aggresive, the machinery underground does not rust until taken back to the surface. The Germans in WW2 stuffed a few salt mines with looted treasures, seemingly with no problems. As for lead mines, etc. Anyone who has seen the mould sporing bodies in the Milwr Tunnel would certainly discount it as a repository for documents, etc.
