Can I suggest you contact the Coal Authority - http://www.coal.gov.uk
They have digitised their photographic archive and that may extend to the
film archive. If they have not got copies of the films in question they
might be interested in archiving them and providing a copy. Otherwise
contact the film archive for England (which is probably the photographic
museum in Bradford) to check if they wish to archive your film.
If the films are fit to project, and it can be done without damaging them,
hiring a projector and advertising a day/weekend event would probably
attract enough interest to cover the cost, and allow you to assess what you
have on the reels.
