Dear Listees,
I have a cash book entry for 1830 showing a payment of "Samuel Nealor -
Washer - £40".
I know that at this time, Nealor was a part-retired Capt or Under Capt at
this mine. He was doing small expert jobs with various mine cos as well as
being in a partnership.
There are no visible associated costs for labour, materials or machinery.
However, the present Capt or Agent had a salary of £60 p.a. which to me
signals that Nealor's £40 was something short-term but significant.
Does anyone have comparative cost data which might support my thought that
Nealor had been commissioned to provide some washing plant?
Best wishes,
Andy Cuckson
