I recently had occasion to stay a couple of nights in a hotel
in the Peckforton Hills, Cheshire (SJ 530560) which the 10-mile
to the inch geological map shows me are an outcrop of
Keuper sandstone - indeed the walls of the hotel room were
made of it.
On the main road nearby was a pub called "The Copper Mine".
Sadly it was shut for renovation, so one could not ask the
landlord why it had that name. I have heard of the mines at
Alderley Edge, but were there others in the Peckforton Hills?
