Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in Radio
Part time – approx 21 hours per week
£22,954 - £35,367 per annum, pro rata
We are seeking to appoint a well qualified,
enthusiastic and experienced Lecturer in Radio. You
will have a first degree in a relevant area and a
good track record of broadcast radio work of
professional standing and/or published research in
the area of radio studies. It is essential that you
have teaching experience, preferably within Higher
Education. Experience of research within an
academic context would be advantageous.

Overall Job Purpose: Teaching, Research & Reach Out
Key Tasks and Results:
Under the direction of the Subject Leader in radio
production you will:
Co-ordinate, teach and assess modules in radio
production at undergraduate and taught postgraduate
level.
Contribute to the further development of these areas.
Maintain professional links in the radio industry
In addition you will:
Carry out production/research in your own specialist
area.
Perform supervisory, administrative and pastoral
duties as required by the Associate Dean and the
Dean of the School of Arts, Design, Media & Culture.
Contribute to the Schools outreach into business,
the community and the professions.Ø Carry out any other reasonable
duties which may be required by the Dean of School.
Role Profile – Part 2
Qualifications, Experience and Expertise:
Essential:
Good first degree in a relevant area.
Evidence of good track record of broadcast radio
work of professional standing and/or
published research in the area of Radio Studies.
Teaching Experience, preferably within Higher Education.
Desirable: Higher degree or qualification in a
radio related subject.
Teaching qualification.
Experience of research within an academic context.
Key Skills: The ability to teach a range of radio
production/live radio courses at undergraduate
and post graduate level.
Specialist skills in at least two of the following areas:-
Documentary/feature production, live sequence/magazine
production, community/access radio, commercial
production, radio presentation, experimental radio,
radio management, internet radio.
Up to date production skills including advanced
digital production.
Skills in learning and teaching.
The ability to relate radio practice and production
to aspects of radio theory and media studies.
A commitment to equal opportunities at the level of
policy, pedagogic practice and the development of
broadcasting projects that broaden diversity.
The ability to perform administrative duties with
efficiency at module level
The ability to develop a successful record in
research in an academic context.
Up to date knowledge of and contacts in the radio
industry.
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work
as a member of a team.
