Thank you for that; for your openness about your role and acting on the
discussion. As with anything else, people are only likely to feel its worth
getting involved if they have evidence that their views will be listened to
and taken seriously- and acted on if possible.
I dont have time to take up the kind of post that Tony mentioned (do I
really have to in addition to working the equivalent of a 6 day week?) But
I would approach a councillor if I thought that it might actually make a
difference. That would involve the councillor, but also the others involved
in determining strategy.
I think it should be possible to have an article in Update focussing on how
decisions are made/strategy developed, and what avenues there are for
individuals and councillors to put in their views. And if there is an
example of grassroots feedback direct or via a councillor actually leading
to a change in policy, that would be v important to mention. Doesnt need to
include everything about CILIP.
