It would make sense for Clip to publish the comparisons and the relevant figures?

CILIP say thay have made comparisons with other professional bodies- I wonder how detailed and far ranging these were. Mine was very casual- I asked my partner. A health visitor, her professional body does indeed have a flat rate sub about the level CILIP's would be pitched at. However, health visitor's pay starts at around £20,000- much easier to pay a flat rate if you are earning a decent amount in the first place.

Remmber also that we quite reasonably expect there to be a legal requirement that doctors are professionally qualified; employers are under no legal requirement to appoint the professionally qualified to do "library and information work", as many of us know to our cost.

Therefore is the comparison between Cilip and BMA sensible?

The BMA is a Trade Union - both legally and actually.
