The post is available as part of the Library’s ongoing retrospective
conversion projects which are providing enhanced access to a broad range
of modern and early collections for the benefit of users from the
University and the wider research community. Reporting to the
Bibliographic Services Librarian and the Area Studies Librarian as
required, the person appointed will work on retrospective conversion for
holdings within the Modern and General Collections of the Library, which
include extensive Area Studies materials relating to East Asia and the
Middle East, and for some Special Collections and Local Collection
materials held within the Palace Green Section of the Library as well.
The post will also involve creating cataloguing records for a range of
microfilm items, and may include some retrospective cataloguing
conversion for items held within the Middle East Documentation Unit
along with some input into the ongoing modern cataloguing and
classifying of newly-acquired materials at the Main Library.
The post is largely based at the Main Library and is fixed-term from 1st
August 2004 to 31st July 2005
The salary will be on the Grade 4 Clerical Scale, £15,603 - £18,015 per
annum.
