Project Assistant Journal Coordination (initial one-year post)
Clerical & Library Grade 4: £15,603 - £18,015 per annum
Applications are invited for this full-time post in the newly established
Collection Management Unit. The initial one-year phase of the Periodical
Coordination Project (PECOP) will provide the basis for a co-operative
approach to periodical subscriptions held by OULS libraries. The
post-holder will gather details on print and electronic periodical holdings
across OULS, analyse the collections by subject area and establish areas of
duplication. The project will also explore ways of integrating print and
electronic resources in the most cost effective manner. This is a new
project with the first phase lasting one year. Depending on the outcome of
the results, there may be a possibility of extension for a further year.
Ideally the successful candidate will have some experience in dealing with
periodicalsand basic knowledge of working in an online library system.
Further requirements include good knowledge of Excel and Access, attention
to detail, and a general interest in issues relating to hybrid collections.
In order to establish the most efficient way of gathering collection data
from each individual OULS library the post-holder is expected to be a good
team worker and strong communicator.
The post is available from 1 May 2004 or as soon as possible after that date.
