We have a good set of Videos (200) & Dvds (100) in our library. We started
about 6 months ago to build up the Dvd collection, it is much appreciated
by our students. We mainly buy Dvds instead of Videos now, also they take
up less shelf space. Most new computers play Dvds and so more of our
students have access to Dvds than Videos. Also, some of the films on our
reading lists are just produced on Dvds.
We still keep our Videos, and they are borrowed, but not as heavilly as the
Dvds. We have a Video & a new DVD machine in the library that students can
book to watch the films. (The new DVD machine cost about ?29.99 + cable, so
was not a heavy investment).

Hell All
Has anyone started the move away from VHS to DVD recording instead for
their video libraries? I would be interested in views on this subject.
Is it still too early? Is the standard established yet? Is DVD even the
format for the future?
Thanks
