Don't miss this opportunity to spend a day at the fascinating St.
Deiniol's Library at Hawarden.
St. Deiniol's is a unique institution, Britain's only residential library.
It was founded by the Victorian statesman, William Ewart Gladstone and,
following his death in 1898, became the nation's tribute to his life and
work. The Library has been recognised as the most important research
library and collection in Wales after the National Library of Wales.
A full day has been organised by CILIP Wales / Career Development Group
Wales / Local Studies Group Wales, with the opportunity to tour the
library and local record office, as well as a varied programme of
speakers. They will be covering topics such as local history packs,
establishing an education service, and opportunities within the
curriculum.
The day will appeal to librarians and archivists. All are welcome, but
early booking is advised as places are limited. The fee of £35 plus VAT
will include lunch, refreshments and the guided tours.
