I must admit lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgendered sounds more like
a sandwich and a mouthful than something around which one can
seriously organise, but I have found out about it now.. thanks for the
pointers people, and the NATFHE equality committee will almost
certainly be voting to support it in September
Given it is thirty years since I think the first exhibition in a
public library on gay liberation (as it was then) it would seem to me
a good opportunity to do things...
I searched on the infoM25 and willi clumps on the string gay, just to
get a scope of the topic and was surprised how weak a lot of
university library collections are...
It seems to me the issue we were raising in librarians and social
change and the gay liberation front thirty years ago, libraries have
an obligation to give a positive impression and provide material...
it might be hypothetical now that anyone would type gay into a library
catalogue as an initial way of dealing with complexity but I think we
must take it as a starting point :)
If anyone is enthused with doing something, www.schools-out.org.uk is
the starting point, or email me and I will try to keep a list.. or
even start a jiscmail one
