Dear all
I am collecting material for a book on the ‘Culture of evaluation in
library and information science’ for Chandos Press and I would like to
briefly overview the history of survey and evaluation. The earliest major
survey exercise I am aware of is Savage in Edinburgh in 1937, written up
in Olle’s biog. + article in LAR 1937. There was also Brian Groombridge –
The Londoner and his library about 1965. The LA survey of 1936? is worth a
mention but not directly user orientated.
Examples from outside UK would be very welcome.
Thanks
