Is anyone able to use the proxy rewrite method to connect to Athens
authenticated resources in Silver? We used to be able to do this in
the past but we now get an error message.
We have opted for IP authentication as much as possible but still have
a few databases which need Athens authentication at EDINA and MIMAS.
We have the following entries in our forward table:
*.edina.ac.uk
edina.ac.uk
*.athensams.net
auth.athensams.net
A remote user clicking a link to BIOSIS, for example, is asked for their
barcode and PIN before they are asked for their Athens username and
password. I realise we don't have to use WAM proxy for remote access to
these resources but we can collect WAM usage statistics by directing the
users via WAM.
If we now try to access Athens authenticated resources via WAM proxy we
get the following message after we type in the Athens username and
password.
"The service that attempted to log you into Athens is not authorised to do
so. Please contact your Athens administrator if you have any queries."
We thought this might be due to the new firewall we just installed but it
has been suggested that the problem may have started when we upgraded to
Silver. I'm wondering if anyone running the Millennium Silver release is
able to direct users to Athens authenticated resouces via WAM proxy.
Thanks.
