Job advertisement: Academic Library Sales Executive (3 permanent/full time
positions based in our Oxford offices)
Are you numerate and meticulous, but also persuasive and confident? Then
you may be the person we are looking for to join our online journals sales
team at Oxford University Press.
The Journals Sales department is looking for three sales executives to work
within a small but growing team selling our online journals to library
consortia. The successful candidates will take online journal licensing
agreements from initial customer contact through to signature, ensuring
online access to OUP's academic journals by our academic library consortia
subscribers.
Responsibilities include:-
*Researching new and developing library consortia within a defined
geographical territory.
*Contacting consortia purchasing representatives and soliciting interest in
the provision of quotations
*Developing quotations based on the establishment of accurate records of
current consortia holdings of our journals via reconciliation of customer
and OUP records
*Negotiating online access terms, conditions and prices
*Arranging the invoicing of deals and the setting up of appropriate online
journal access to consortia members
*Maintenance of accurate records of deals on our consortia database
*Preparing, monitoring and controlling an annual budget for consortia sales
and marketing within a defined geographical territory
The ideal candidates will combine expertise at creating and manipulating
large and complex spreadsheets with a quick and natural empathy with a wide
variety of customers. They will be skilled at negotiating - sometimes face
to face, but more often at distances of many thousands of miles via email
with library purchasing staff whose first language is usually not English.
They will combine energy and enthusiasm with patience and persistence. They
will be organised, efficient, able to prioritise tasks, take the initiative
and work efficiently unsupervised much of the time.
The salary offered will be in the region of £19-24,000 p.a. depending on
skills and experience.
OUP offers a full range of supporting benefits.
