Thanks Karine.
I just thought it might be useful for publishers to make Highwire aware of the importance of ATHENS authentication within the UK and Europe - a fact I have brought to their attention ever since we had been dealing with BMJ journals within the KA24 service. When visiting their stand a few years ago at Online, no one really took this problem that seriously passing me back to BMJ. To BMJ's credit I think they have been pointing out that ATHENS users do not receive adequate journal usage statistics because Highwire haven't done development on their side, but I now understand that this is changing. If SAGE can also point out that there are a lot of their users accessing Sage journals via Athens - thus requiring accurate usage statistics through this entrance point - then this can only be better!

Hi Andy - As mentioned earlier, SAGE allows for remote electronic access by
authorized users at subscribing institutions. Please go to our website at:
http://www.sagepub.co.uk/eaccess to review the Site License - we will be
posting an updated version, which reflects SAGE's new subscription model (e-
only/e+print/print), in September.
To come back to on the specific Athens issue, we are working with HighWire
to implement it for SAGE subscribers. I note your experience on other
journals. I would welcome your emails [log in to unmask] or
[log in to unmask] on this subject. I am at a conference this week
but will get back to your messages when back in office.
Many thanks & Kind regards, Karine

many times we've been into the BMJ journals as a whole - but not the number
