Hi Sandra,
We looked at the premium Ingenta services but decided against it for the
moment and our current sitaution exactly mirrors your own.
Links to all our Ingenta journals are not working, IngentaSelect is fine
... at the moment but then they said they'd migrate IngentaSelect two
weeks later than Ingenta!
I'd written in my diary the official launch date for IngentaConnect
(Tues 26th Oct) but I have not seen any official messages from the
provider about the launch, beyond the various invitations to look at the
Beta version spanning back over recent months. The latest info I have
came via this list and Lesley Crawshaw last week. This stated
"These switchovers will require no action on your part"
I don't recall receiving any concrete advice about how to plan for
migration but I seem to remember reading somewhere that the old sites
would still function for a while and with the above statement backing
this up I decided I did not need to plan in time to wholesale update our
URLs. I'm worried now that I have been wrong in this assumption and that
this is actually what customers need to do.
I've been trying to phone Ingenta this morning myself - I went through
the switchboard down in Oxford and the operator could not get anyone to
answer from the helpdesk. After about a dozen tries over several minutes
she finally rather embarrassingly suggested I better leave a message -
she did not mention anything about us needing to be a premium customer
to have access to the helpdesk - I wonder when they propose a start date
for this daft new rule.
Best wishes
Jackie
