You got offered £15k, that's the top of my scale. This was one of the things that annoyed me with the fire-fighters, they were saying it's impossible to live on such a small amount, but many librarians and the specialties within information work have to.
Incidently those of us out there with degrees pertinent to our jobs within an NHS library should be on A & C 5 when Agenda for Change comes into force. I'm currently trying to get hold of any job descriptions which would help me with my case for being bumped up a grade (i'm currently A & C 4 on just over £14k). I'm determined to get the higher grade but don't know if the powers that be will see it the same way.

I'm really glad that the issue of LIS staff being demoted within the sytem
is at last being mentioned - so far these last 3 years NOBODY seemed to be
taken this demotion of LIS staff seriously (look at some jobs - Acting
librarian of a specialised medical library, appointed at AR1, in central
London - any receptionist makes more than 21k a year).
A recent joke: applying for an indexer (specialised) job "to fit in with
your other academic duties" (not advertised in the CILIP supplement, that I
recall, which is usually taken to mean serious money). When I finally go to
the interview (the wait, the room I had to wait in, all was signalling
"oh-oh" to me, but decided to be "positive"). The fact that they didn't
answer my email regarding "salary negotiable" should have rung strong bells
- the top salary for this was no more than 15k, pro rata (remember what a
senior official said recently about the Ian Huntley case "what kind of
people you get for 15k ?").
