Although my salary will not go up when I charter, and having my Masters isn't even a
requirement for the job I am currently in, having the Masters did swing the
interviewers when it came to giving me the job because it showed them I have a
committment to the information profession, and my new boss is enthusiastic about me
completing my Chartership report. I don't work in a library, I work in a small team
where I am the only information professional, but my qualifications are held in
esteem. I just wanted to say that there are jobs out there where having this
qualification does make a difference.
As to the Chartership, I am doing it for personal satisfaction and also for future
prospects. I think it shows potential employers that you are committed to continuing
professional development and to your chosen field of work. In that respect I think
it is a worthwhile thing to do.
