A friend of mine has just failed his chartership in engineering. Passing it
means a hefty rise in salary. Nobody (least of all his managers) question
his involvement or his demand to be reimbursed the institute fees and the
chartership fees.
I personally am waiting for things to change in my favour (if you had a
house, would you sell it now - if you had money to invest, would you invest
it now ?)
There isn't a chartership list for the people who question how things should
be and those who support the status quo - as far as I know, this is the only
list that strides career development and the chartership process.
Finally, for some of the posts for the local Branches, you have to be
chartered - so finally at some point it will be relevant for them as well.
I have NEVER come across a list for PhD students in which those who question
the value of the PhD (on the whole paid by their institutions, but I don't
want to slide into this discussion) are asked to question why they are on
the list.
