Hi Helena - and anyone else struggling to get support with their
chartership!
The Career Development Group (one of CILIP's special interest groups)
organises the Registration Liaison Network. To find the Registration
Liaison Officer for your area, and any forthcoming chartership events,
go to the Divisional pages here:
http://www.careerdevelopmentgroup.org.uk/divisions_map.htm (NB Since
April 2004, the Career Development Group re-organised its regional
groups and Berks/Bucks/Oxon is now covered by the South East Division
which operates alongside the London Division - from the link above,
click on 'committee members' to find contact details for RLOs). If there
isn't an RLO for a particular area then chartership candidates can
contact the Learning Co-ordinator Nicky Franklin, whose contact details
are listed here: http://www.careerdevelopmentgroup.org.uk/officers.htm
I hope that's helpful. Good luck with your chartership.
Best wishes
Liz

Subject: Route B help needed
Dear all
I've been registered on Route B for about 18 months now you probably
think I would have (by now!) got a bit on the way with my chartership.
NOT SO! I'm frankly fed up with CILIP for not providing me (and others)
with adequate support. My region (Berks/Bucks/Oxon) has no supportive
network, because the position of 'chartership support person' has been
vacant for as long as I know. I'm reading this list and seeing that the
Midland's group is actively supporting their candidates with regular
meetings/talks/courses, and my region has absolutely nothing. I have
approached CILIP twice about this and not even a decent response from
them suggesting what else I can do. On top of that I work in an
organisation (and always have done) with no other librarians, so have no
support through my work either. It's a good thing I have a good group
of health librarians I can ask questions of throughout the UK.
I'd like to hear other people's comments on their experience of support,
and what you have done if you were in the same situation as me.
Also, if you are someone on route B, perhaps a health librarian?, and
want to talk about issues/chartership etc., email me.
Best wishes,
Helena Korjonen-Close
