Pip,
I totally agree. I initially submitted my application back in October last
year (as a Portfolio under the old regulations). I'm still waiting to hear
!!!! After about 6 months I was asked to rewrite and expand the annotated
contents and then about 2-3 months after that I was asked to submit two
additional addenda (of up to 700 words each). I'm still waiting to hear
whether I've been accepted! It seems to be a very long-winded process and
lacking in guidance as to what is actually required. I had looked at other
Portfolios prior to submitting my own and thought they seem'd pretty much
along the same lines. In retrospect I think I would have been better off
writing PDR rather than submitting a Portfolio.
A couple of years ago my husband became a Chartered Electrical Engineer -
this was much quicker and more straight forward - just complete a form, get
a couple of Chartered Engineers to vouch for you and attend an Interview -
it was all sorted in a matter of weeks! (I think he also had to complete a
one year on-the-job recognised training programme (similar to Route A I
guess) - but he had done that many. many years previously).

Well, I have posted my Application this morning, at a cost of £18.50 for
Special Delivery (!), and hope for it be considered at the next possible
board meeting.
But I can't help but feel that the whole process was a bit confused, and
that I'm still in the dark as to whether I've done it correctly.
I don't want to shoot myself in the foot here, by criticising the process,
but does anyone else feel that it isn't the most user-friendly way of
achieving a professional qualification?
Pip
