*The course has been brought to Wales by Career Development Group Wales.
This course has been developed by the Training and Development Department
of
CILIP.

INTRODUCTION
*This half-day workshop is intended to update participants' knowledge of
current copyright issues in relation to electronic information, and will
include issues relating to copyright and the Internet, deep linking and
databases. *The workshop also investigates the impact of the implementation
of the EU Copyright Directive.

BENEFITS FROM ATTENDING
* By the end of the workshop delegates will have a good understanding of
the
problems caused by new technology.
* They will also have a clearer understanding of how far new legislation
addresses these problems. The new legislation will be discussed in some
depth, and there will be an opportunity for delegates to discuss any areas
that particularly concern them, and to try to find practical solutions to
any implementation problems.

WHO WILL BENEFIT FROM ATTENDING?
* Anyone who is affected by copyright issues.
* The workshop is aimed at those who already have a good basic
understanding
of current copyright law.

*Cardiff University.
*The Glamorgan Building on King Edward VII Avenue, right in the heart of
the
civic centre. *A university map is available at
http://www.cf.ac.uk/university/directions/dwnload/mapkey03.pdf which shows
where the Glamorgan Building is located. *The course will be in room 1.75
(Housing Studio) which is on the second floor in the department of City and
Regional Planning. *Signs will help people find the room but basically they
need to follow the signs for "City and Regional Planning" on the second
floor. *Access code S: venue with many unavoidable steps and/or other
obstacles for wheelchair users.
