my students all think I am mad now...a giggling librarian at the counter
tends to unsettle the poor dears...

Heinemann let slip that there is an international plot by publishers to
replace
all librarians with pod-people who will pay whatever a publisher asks,
thereby bankrupting all libraries and making it necessary for people
to buy information at a premium, which will be copyrighted,
and no-one will be able to pass purchased information on to a third
party (think
CD copyright, RIAA, etc) without facing life imprisonment on offshore
facilities
which make more pod-librarians.
CILIP are writing to them to ask them to stop.
Or it could just be Friday afternoon now...
