This is message for chartership candidates living in Berks/Bucks/Oxon. The BBOB branch of CILIP will change soon - from April 2004 we will be a sub branch of the South East region of CILIP and be known as BBO.
We know from our recent survey that members still value opportunities for locally based training events, visits to other libraries and the chance for informal networking.
Could you help us with this for BBO? The BBO Committee is friendly and informal. It's a very good way for chartership candidates putting together their portfolio to gain some wider professional experience, but all members of CILIP living or working in the area are more than welcome.
* Committee members
We need new members for the committee. This doesn't need to be a burden - meetings are currently held 6 times a year, usually in Oxford or Reading and travel expenses are paid. We are actively looking to replace some meetings by electronic communication to make life easier. At present the meetings are usually held on a Tuesday or Thursday afternoon, but if work commitments make this difficult we will look to find mutually convenient times for meetings.
* Hosts for visits
If you don't feel able to join the committee, would you be willing to organise a BBO visit to your workplace? We will provide publicity for the visit and pay for refreshments for our members if appropriate.
* Do you have questions or want to discuss this further? Please contact Ruth Hilbourne, the current chair, in the first instance:
