I rang the job centre a few years ago for summer work-
it was just around the time they changed their job classifications-
and said that I was looking for professional information work.
The bloke on the phone expressed disbelief, saying that there was no
such thing,
and that in their office everyone just dealt with their own information
when I asked
him how they controlled records and information where he worked.
I asked him about some courier work then.
Pointing out that the lack of information management would probably
explain the poor job title classifications,
the very bad information architecture of the new site,
and the poor information skills of their employees,
seemed fairly futile.
He would have found at least half a dozen records management
temp jobs in the oil industry (it being the Aberdeen office)
if he'd been competent at any kind of info management.
(Not saying its his fault- its the department he works for)
