While it's true that the PDR needs to be up to date, it is possible to take this
a bit literally and never finish because you're always giving each new project a
little time so you can include it nin the PDR. I know this from experience,
that's part of the reason why I took 8 years to Charter!!! I was always saying
"oh this new job/responsibility/project will be good to write about, I'll give
it 6 months." Eventually enough was enough! I received advice from CILIP who
said that it was OK to pick a cut-off point and state that you'd be writing
about your experiences up to that point. As long as it's pretty recent (e.g. a
month or two) then they accepted that you needed time to actually write the
report from the compiled material, without constantly adding bits about new
things. My report covered up to the end of August 2002, and I submitted it at
the end of the October.
I'd suggest including the relevant paperwork (e.g. job descriptions, mission
statements etc) about the new job, and including a short section describing
the new challenges/issues you see ahead, and how you propose to meet them.
If anyone from CILIP would like to correct or add to this suggestion, please do,
as I'd hate to give misleading advice :-)
