Dear Lihnnettes/Lihnnets
I am having a problem in accessing on-line full-text of a journal I've subscribed to from Blackwell Publishing. Blackwell have sent me what they think the solution is (something to do with caching webpages and the firewall) and Dan the Man (troubleshooter in our computer services) has implemented their solution but it still doesn't work. Anyhow, Dan reckons he knows what the problem may be. He says our IP addresses are fine within NHSnet but once you go outside our address changes to pretty much a kind of global address for NHS users . He has tried to enter this address but someone has already entered that address as their own and he can't use it. My reaction was Eeeeeek!!!! However, on quieter reflection, if he's right, other people must have had the same problem. Does anyone out there have any knowledge or experience of this coz it's a tad intractable at the moment. Also, if he's right, doesn't that give access to "my" subscription by possibly any Tom, Dick and Harriet in the NHS????
Any bright light shone on this scary problem would be most appreciated!
Cheerio.
David
