Forwarded on behalf of Mark Pluciennik:
Dear All,
This is confirmation that the spring meeting of the informal Italian prehistory day will be held in the seminar room of the School of Archaeology & Ancient History, University of Leicester, on Wednesday April 21 from 2pm to 5pm. We have four planned papers of c 25 minutes each linked by the theme of 'Connections' - for programme details please see below.
The School moved buildings last summer, and though it is signposted properly on campus, on some maps it may still be referred to as the 'Chemistry Research Building'. The seminar room is on the ground floor at the rear and will be signposted; my office is also on the ground floor in the left-hand corridor. In the tall building opposite the Archaeology building there is a selection of institutional food available, including a faux Italian coffee bar for those whose taste runs to irony: I am afraid that there are no alternative eating places within easy reach. The campus as a whole is a short (15-minute) walk from the main railway station, and the Archaeology building very near to the central entrance (Entrance 2). Details of how to get to Leicester and the School are most easily found at:

and I shall be around in my office for most of the time that morning if anyone gets stuck!. We have a digital projector in the seminar room, as well as slide and overhead projectors. The provisional programme is as follows (starting at 2pm and planned to finish at around 5pm):
Preston Miracle (Cambridge) Mind the Gap: From Hunting to Herding in the Eastern Adriatic
Armando De Guio (Padova) Dirt, Sweet Road to Brendola: the Oldest in the World?
Ulla Rajala (Cambridge) Internal Developments, External Contacts - Explaining Settlement Change in Central Italy
Robin Skeates (Durham) Displaying Connections in Prehistoric SE Italy
I am looking forward to seeing and hearing from many of you.
Mark Pluciennik
