on 12 May at the BCS HQ I'm organising on behalf of the BCS and the
LTSN-ICS, and the information for development forum, a meeting on
metadata. This is part of the contribution to the action plan of the
world summit on the information society..
there is a list on the organisation of the meeting
[log in to unmask]
and a web page
http://www.epsg.org.uk/dcsg/
there seem to be a number of interesting issues about the role of
controlled vocabularies, taxonomies and classification schemes, which
in my humble opinion the ir community hasn't really done a lot on...
but happyiest to be proven wrong..
projects which might throw a light include HILT, UKAT, GCL, LGCL..
sorry for all the acronyms but I am sure there are others
I'm speaking tomorrow at the BCS specialist groups assembly in oxford
so if anyone from ir is there we can touch toes
if anyone has a contribution to make to the meeting, please email me
