I am working as a project researcher for IBRU over the summer. As part of a
series of recent IBRU initiatives to enhance the resources available for
successful boundary management around the world, I am undertaking a study into
the location and function of international boundary commissions.
I have experienced difficulty locating such commissions and although I have
contacted embassies and governments realize the response rate is unlikely to
be significant.
Through web and library searches I have located the following commissions:
Albania-Macedonia: Joint boundary commission
Benin: Benin Boundary Commission
Brazil: DF, PCDL and SCDL
Bulgaria-Romania: Joint boundary commission
Georgia-Russia: Georgia-Russia joint boundary commission.
Guyana: National Border Commission
India-Nepal: Joint Boundary Commission
Mexico-Guatemala: CILA
Niger: Niger Boundary Commission
Nigeria: National Boundary Commission
Suriname: National Border Commission
US-Canada: International Boundary Commission
US-Mexico: International Boundary & Water Commission
Does anyone have either ideas of how to locate further boundary commissions or
are able to supply the contact details of any others?
At the end of the project we hope to make our findings available.
Thank you for any assistance,
