 Hello Richard -
Would you be interested in a paper on staff attributions for SIB in relation
to propensity to help? It would not be about training directly, but would be
relevant to any SIB training programme with staff - Or are you only
interested in hands on work?
Seasons greetings, and best wishes for 2005,
Paul

Subject: JARID Special Issue - Staff Training and Challenging Behaviour

Dear All

We have emailed some of you directly about this already where we were
pretty sure you may have data, but hope that more of you will be
interested. Please do let us know if you would be interested in
submitting something to the special issue.

Best wishes

Richard
(also on behalf of Drs Ian Grey and Brian McLean)

We are writing to ask if you would be interested in submitting a paper
for a special issue of the Journal of Applied Research in Intellectual
Disabilities. The issue is to focus on staff training and challenging
behaviours. We are looking for papers describing empirical studies using
any suitable methodology. If you do have some data that you would
consider submitting for the special issue, could you please let us know
by emailing your response by 31 January 2005. You are welcome to submit
a paper any time up to the deadline of 1 September 2005, but if you
could register your intention to submit a paper it would be very helpful
in the planning of this special issue.

We very much hope that you will be able to join us in this project.
Please do forward this email to other colleagues who may be interested
in this special issue.

All papers will be subject to the usual peer review processes for JARID.

CALL FOR PAPERS

Journal of Applied Research in Intellectual Disabilities

Special Issue: Training staff to work with people with challenging
behaviours

Editors: Richard Hastings, Ian Grey, Brian McClean

Call for Papers

We are seeking empirical papers (no review or position papers are
invited) evaluating staff training focused on the challenging behaviours
of people with intellectual disabilities. Studies may address skills for
managing challenging behaviours, changing staff beliefs about
challenging behaviours, or improving staff ability to cope with the
stresses of working with people with challenging behaviours. The special
issue is planned to appear during 2006.

Papers may be submitted by email, along with a cover letter as required
for all JARID submissions, to Professor Hastings by 1 September 2005:
