A message from Richard Osborn
Dear Colleagues,
This is an invitation to contribute to a special September 2005
supplement of Health Information and Libraries Journal (HILJ), in
celebration of the life and work of Leslie Morton, who died earlier this
year. The main focus for this supplement will be themes related to
Leslie's work and interests - medical bibliography and history,
publishing, user education, and the organization and development of our
health library profession, with special reference to the international
aspects with which Leslie was involved from the earliest days.
Papers already promised for this special issue include:
* the impact of MEDLINE in the UK from the earliest days to NeLH
* health libraries during World War 2
* the international organization of health librarianship
Papers on other themes of relevance are very welcome.
If you would like to contribute to the special issue (full papers of
between 2,500-5,000 words, or short communications of between
1,000-2,000 words) please send to either of us a short, 400-500 word
abstract of your proposed paper in the first instance, giving its title
and a clear indication of its focus.
The deadline for abstracts is: Monday 20th September.
HILJ is very grateful for sponsorship by the CILIP Health Libraries
Group for this special issue.
We very much look forward to receiving your abstract - in the meantime,
please don't hesitate to contact us directly if you would like any
further information about the special issue.
Best wishes,
Michael Carmel and Richard Osborn
