I've been asked to do a peice for a magazine on the ethics of MMR. What r
your views on the debate about personal versus community responsibilities?
Are we 'obliged' as individuals in this case to subsume any personal worries
about MMR to maintain the 'greater' good of collective immunity.? Afterall
if we all exercised our personal freedom to opt out then those children who
cannot have MMR for good medical reason are exposed to greater risk becos of
lose of herd immunity. Surely we the well have a responsibility to them.
When does our individual responsibilties end and community ones start? are
they indivisable?
