HS IT Plan Hits a Snag
England's largest supplier of IT systems to general practitioners has
refused to participate in the National Health Service's plan to provide GPs
with computer systems for appointment booking, electronic prescriptions and
central records sharing. The dispute between NHS and EMIS, which provides
systems for 55% of the country's GP practices, is the first major "overt
rebellion" against the government's $9.2 billion IT project, the London
Guardian reports.
