On this subject I am struggling - but this is a longish story so you may need a drink.
I have, or rather had, 3 computers happily connected to a BT black box and broadband through Via networks ISP (courtesy of husband's company). They were wired albeit a longish distance but I had no problems until ...
Woke one morning in middle of powercut .. black box died .... eventually bought router/modem and reattached son's wireless Linksys wirelessG router for his X box and another Linksys cable router into which I plugged the previous wires ...
PC closest to boxes works fine. Other two had a paddy.
Meanwhile son removes Norton from my PC (no 3)(since some box apparently came up and told him it was conflicting with something .... ) and installs McAfee (don't ask me why). Then nothing at all. Son and daughters boyfriend inform me "it the wires" . Somewhat disbelieving that both would go at the same time I purchased two USB wireless thingies (USB because it seemed easier than opening the PCs)plugged them in but ... It tells me the wireless has only partial connectivity, fails to "repair" ...
So I entered the ISP etc by hand. Now it tells me that number is in use elsewhere and will cause conflicts.
The ISP people are apparently incontactable - when it first went wrong we booked a call and they went to Tunbridge Wells instead of Farnham - and they haven't reached us yet!
I have no idea where to go next!
Utterly fed up with computers of Farnham (not Tunbridge wells)
