My point is that the detail revealed by the police does not suggest
aggravated burglary, murder, assault etc all of which could have given us
reasonable grounds to consider breaching confidentiality
And this has been disseminated nationally (as far as I can tell).
In the past when we received letters/faxes from the FHSA warning us about
particular individuals and requesting information about them, it was usually
because of violence or obtaining drugs.
Would you be happy to disclose information about an alleged burglar?
What about a car thief? Or a pickpocket?
Maybe this sort of thing won't happen again in the near future if the police
are allowed access to the national spine.
Then we can all sleep safe at night.
