Apropos of comments on those who voted FOR (and I won't remind you all of
the % who didn't vote at all because as Gerry Adams put it here when we were
voting on the new N Ireland agreement, 51% is a majority), could I just say
that I am now finishing a month doing locum for a very go-ahead
single-handed GP who has some of the best staff I have ever met and the
amount of paperwork, reporting, coding, recording and other stuff of no
particular value to anyone other than ensuring that he gets paid, is just
awful. I am reinforced in my belief that I should continue turning down
partnership offers because I would be totally unable to work in such a
system.
OTOH, sorting out awful clinical problems, co-ordinating hospital services
for those with chronic multiple illnesses (ie making sure the buggers don't
screw up too often) and saving the occasional life while dispensing good
cheer and positive vibes to all and sundry---Aaahh! Now that's what I can
do! Or as Steven Seagal said in Under Siege 2, as the sound of submachine
gun fire reached his ears, "Now THIS I am trained for!"
