By whom might I ask? If they give you any other advice, check it carefully.
When the Panels were set up the requirement to obtain a fresh prescription for
each dispensing was introduced, I think in an effort to reduce dispensing,
although it might also have had the reasonable intention of getting people
seen during chronic treatment.
When the NHS was formed and took over from the Panels, that was not changed.
(People see the NHS as a huge change - it was big, but we have contract
changes every few years, some bigger than others)
