I would normally agree with you 100% on this issue and the latest thorn in
my side is a proforma for referring patients with varicose veins. Aside from
the issue of them deciding unilaterally what is and isn't available on the
NHS this is nothing more than an irritant.
What does concern me is the Two Week Referral letters. EMIS provides
templates for these but I don't actually use them. I consider that a
referral letter to the relevant consultant, detailing my suspicions and the
degree of urgency should be enough to secure an appropriate appointment.
Do you think a GP would be found wanting by GMC for not using the TWR forms?
