No Esc or F1 used to abort actions or return to backup to previous
screen/menu/point but never to go on to the next task
I think Jeff's original query suggesting this was most common with EMIS
depends on the relative frequency of use of the GP systems in that area. If
EMIS is the most commonly used then de facto "missing" prescriptions will
probably be more often associated with an EMIS system. We have this on
occasions whenever we have taken the time to investigate carefully it is
usually the result of human error (receptionist failing to print the
prescription or patient having collected but lost the prescription or
someone else having collected it on their behalf but they're not aware).
There doesn't appear to be a system issue. The solution for practices would
be to implement a process of documenting collection of prescriptions rather
than just printing of same. They could then state confidently whether or not
the script had been supplied rather than just having a record of it being
printed and not being able to find it so assuming it has been handed over.
