Latest on Amiodarone post AF conversion---quiet morning yesterday so after
my medical ward round went to the library, managed to find two recent copies
of European Heart Journal and browsed happily for a while. And lo, what did
I find but a study on use of Amiodarone for AF!!!
Main bits I recall were:
1. All started on Amiodarone----1 in 5 reverted to sinus before elective
zapping.
2. Those zapped and kept on Amiodarone for one year had lower rate of
reversion to AF. Sorry figures have leaked out of my brain.
3. BUT lots of side effects with a year on Amiodarone to extent that authors
concluded eight weeks might be best compromise between side effects and
staying in sinus.
If anyone is real interested I can go find it and post some figures.
