No, our list is completely closed apart from allocations (like everyone else
around here) and has been since October when we came close to a catastrophic
collapse.
In my previous practice we didn't accept a registration application until
the NP check was done but we did see people who needed to be seen and dealt
with them as INTs (assuming they needed INT). We did of course have the
ability to do NP checks within a day or two. This was because in ye olden
days we had a lot of casual movement among patients in our bit of the city
and we wanted at least to pick up reg med fees for our efforts; impossible
if not done within 12 weeks, and patients not well motivated to keep
appointments for check ups - this gave them an incentive and helped pay for
a practice nurse.
Nowadays no-one moving about because lists closed...... oh this is where I
came in.
