*New directions in Quantitative Geography*
Sponsored by the Quantitative Methods Research Group and The Postgraduate
Forum
Session Convenor: David Ashby

postgraduate work that promotes the application of quantitative methods in
geographical research. It will encompass a diverse range of methodologies
and research topics which may include, but is not restricted to, the use of
spatial statistics, spatial modelling, geosimulation, geocomputation,
Geographical Information Science and remote sensing.
The conference theme - "Flows and Spaces in a Globalised World" - should be
reflected in the student research where possible. Research papers may
discuss any area of quantitative geography and the following themes are
particularly encouraged:
Spatial analysis applications
Socio-economic modelling
Automata-based modelling, including pedestrian modelling
Geosimulation
Computational developments in spatial science
Accuracy, complexity and uncertainty
Spatial statistics
**A Best Paper/Presentation Award for Postgraduate Research in Quantitative
Geography will be awarded on the day. All authors whose abstracts are
accepted will be contacted in February regarding the competition for small
student bursaries.**.
If you are interested in participating in this session, please download
